BPL Medical Technologies, part of the BPL Group, is advancing its presence in India’s medical technology sector by expanding its portfolio of ‘Made in India’ products and digital health solutions. The company marks 12 years of operations, reinforcing its commitment to homegrown healthcare innovations.

BPL Medical Technologies has established a strong national presence through advanced manufacturing and a broad range of medical devices aimed at both urban and rural healthcare providers. The company traces its origins to 1967 when BPL developed India’s first in-house ECG machine. Since then, BPL expanded its healthcare footprint with various devices that have been widely used across hospitals and clinics in India.

In 2013, BPL Medical Technologies was created as a separate entity focused exclusively on medical technology to meet evolving healthcare demands. Over the past decade, it has become a healthcare technology partner offering solutions aligned with India’s clinical needs and international standards.

The company provides medical solutions across six segments: cardiology, critical care and surgery, women and child care, imaging, homecare, consumers, and accessories. Recently, it inaugurated a new manufacturing facility in Bangalore, India, with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi presiding over the opening. Alongside its existing Palakkad facility, both sites hold ISO 13485:2016 certification, supporting the production of products that comply with global quality requirements.

Dr. Shravan Subramanyam, Managing Director of BPL Medical Technologies, stated, “BPL has been a trusted name in the Indian market for decades, as a pioneer in consumer electronics. That legacy of trust in the quality, innovation, and reliability still motivates the journey of our medical technology division today. BPL Medical Technologies continues that journey with a focus on accessible, high-quality, and digitally integrated products. With strong local manufacturing, a growing innovation pipeline, and deep market reach, we are committed to strengthening India’s medical infrastructure not just through technology, but through solutions that are rooted in our legacy and designed for the future.”

BPL Medical Technologies operates through 14 regional offices and more than 500 channel partners, creating one of the largest distribution networks in India’s medtech sector. The company plans to increase investment in research and development and expand its reach in both hospital and homecare settings.

As part of its innovation agenda, BPL Medical Technologies is developing AI capabilities within its X-ray machines. This technology aims to deliver smart diagnosis in remote locations without internet connectivity, enabling healthcare access in underserved areas.
