KIMS Hospitals, Thane, has appointed Dr. Anil Heroor as the Director of Oncological Sciences. Dr. Heroor, with over 20 years of experience in surgical oncology, specialises in gastrointestinal, breast, head and neck, and minimally invasive cancer surgeries.
Dr. Heroor is a Gold Medalist from Tata Memorial Hospital and has contributed to surgical oncology through clinical practice, academic work, and leadership roles. Before joining KIMS Hospitals, he was the Head of Surgical Oncology at Fortis Hospital, Mulund, where he led several multidisciplinary cancer care programmes.
Commenting on his new role, Dr. Heroor said, “Cancer care is not just about removing a tumour. It’s about healing a person—body and soul. At KIMS, we are creating that healing ecosystem.”
Under Dr. Heroor’s leadership, KIMS Hospitals’ OncoSciences Department integrates oncodiagnostics, surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, nuclear medicine, and onco-rehabilitation with supportive care. The department focuses on site-specific treatment to improve patient outcomes through coordinated care, evidence-based protocols, and personalised treatment plans.
A dedicated tumour board evaluates each case to ensure precision treatment with continuity and compassion. The new programme promises faster coordination and regular updates for referring doctors, alongside collaborative treatment planning.
Patients will have access to comprehensive cancer treatment closer to home, including supportive therapies such as nutrition, speech therapy, and psychological support aimed at improving recovery and quality of life.
Dr. Heroor added, “I am delighted to join KIMS Hospitals, Thane, which is poised to become a Center of Excellence for cancer care in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and Western India. My goal is to build a patient-centric oncology programme focused on early detection, precision treatment, and compassionate care.”
