The second edition of the Orientation Course on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Medical Professionals, jointly conducted by the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), iHub-Data, and IIIT Hyderabad, concluded with a day-long offline session held simultaneously in Delhi and Hyderabad.
The 12-week programme, launched on 15 June 2025, was designed to familiarise medical professionals with the fundamentals and applications of AI in healthcare. It was delivered through a Learning Management Platform and featured pre-recorded lectures, weekly live sessions, tutorials on Data Analytics, and demonstrations of AI model development using no-code platforms.
A total of 110 participants—with equal representation of men and women—from India, the U.S., the UK, Romania, Cambodia, and the UAE, completed the programme. They gained structured exposure to Machine Learning, Deep Learning, ethics and governance, and AI-driven healthcare solutions.
The teaching faculty included experts from IIIT Hyderabad—Dr Jawahar CV, Prof. Bapi Raju, Dr Vinod PK, Prof. Anoop Namboodiri, Dr Ponnurangam Kumaraguru, and Dr Monalisa Patra—alongside medical practitioners and AI specialists such as Dr Avaneesh Khare, Prof. Joy Mammen, Prof. Bindu Menon, Dr Nipun Verma, and Prof. Krithika Rangarajan.
Certificates for participants will be jointly issued by NAMS, iHub-Data, and IIIT Hyderabad.
Participants praised the course for its structured and accessible curriculum, highlighting its ability to simplify AI concepts for medical professionals from non-technical backgrounds. Many expressed interest in enrolling in future domain-specific AI programmes in healthcare.
