Aster DM Healthcare announces 5th Hospital in in Bengaluru; to invest INR 580cr – Express Healthcare

Aster DM Healthcare has announced an investment of ₹580 crore to establish a 500-bed multi-specialty hospital in Yeshwanthpur, Bengaluru. The project is part of the group’s expansion in one of India’s fastest-growing healthcare hubs. Once operational, the new facility will bring Aster’s total bed capacity in the city to 2,580, positioning the group among the top three private healthcare providers in Bengaluru.

The hospital will be developed on a Built-to-Suit (BTS) model with a planned built-up area of approximately 5 lakh sq. ft. In line with Aster’s asset-light expansion strategy, the hospital will be operated and managed entirely by Aster DM Healthcare. This approach mirrors the group’s recently announced facility on Sarjapur Road. The new hospital is expected to begin operations in the second half of FY 2028-2029.

Aster DM Healthcare has signed an Agreement to Lease (ATL) with Kemwell Pvt. Ltd., part of the Kemfin Family Office, to develop this facility under a long-term 30-year lease, with provisions for renewal.

Dr Azad Moopen, Founder and Chairman, Aster DM Healthcare, stated, “The Yeshwanthpur hospital marks a significant milestone in Aster DM Healthcare’s India growth strategy, especially in a vibrant and rapidly evolving healthcare market like Bengaluru. With this addition, we are expanding our capacity in the city to 2,580 beds—making it one of the largest private hospital networks in a single Indian metro. Our vision is to build a seamlessly connected, high-quality healthcare ecosystem across urban India, and Bengaluru is at the heart of this ambition. The new hospital reflects our asset-light expansion approach, using Built-to-Suit models to deliver world-class healthcare infrastructure in high-demand corridors, while ensuring capital efficiency. Over the next few years, we aim to significantly increase our presence across South India by entering new cities and strengthening our footprint in existing ones.”

The hospital’s location in Yeshwanthpur provides access to major arterial roads, including Tumkur Road, Outer Ring Road, Bellary Road, and Chord Road. It also benefits from proximity to Yeshwanthpur Junction railway station and the Green Line of Namma Metro. The surrounding region comprises tech parks, industrial zones, and high-density residential areas, creating a catchment of 3 to 4 million people with increasing demand for tertiary healthcare services.
