Preventive heart health continues to gain momentum as Mahajan Imaging & Labs reports a significant rise in cardiac screening in the first eight months of 2025. The leading diagnostic chain noted sharp year-on-year growth in advanced cardiac tests, reflecting a stronger shift toward early detection and proactive healthcare.
According to the data, TMT (Treadmill Test) volumes increased by 34.6 per cent, while CT Coronary volumes rose by 30.6 per cent between January and August 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. Both tests are seeing wider adoption due to their effectiveness in detecting early cardiac risks. In particular, CT Coronary angiography offers a safe, non-invasive screening option with minimal radiation exposure, supported by a multidisciplinary team of radiologists, anesthetists, and cardiologists to ensure accurate and seamless results. Echocardiography also showed steady growth, rising by approximately 10 per cent. Collectively, these trends reflect a growing awareness of preventive cardiac care among younger and middle-aged populations, as well as among clinicians who recommend timely screenings.
Kabir Mahajan, Chief Operating Officer, Mahajan Imaging & Labs, said, “We are witnessing a sustained rise in health consciousness, particularly in the 25 to 45 age group. Preventive tests like TMT and CT Coronary Angiography are seeing the fastest adoption, which shows that people are no longer waiting for symptoms; they are choosing proactive health management. CT Coronary angiography is a safe procedure with the presence of in-house anesthetists, cardiologists, and radiologists, ensuring accurate reporting and patient safety. This reflects a fundamental change in mindset, where early detection is becoming a priority over reactive treatment.”
This steady rise in preventive cardiac care marks a critical step toward easing India’s growing burden of heart disease. Experts emphasise that alongside screenings, adopting healthier habits such as regular exercise, balanced diets, and stress management remains essential to safeguarding long-term heart health.
Dr Harsh Mahajan, Founder & Chairman, Mahajan Imaging & Labs, added, “Growing awareness about preventive health and wellness, along with rising concern over sudden cardiac deaths among young individuals, has led to an increase in people seeking heart check-ups such as TMT, echocardiography, and CT coronary angiography.
In India, coronary artery disease tends to develop much earlier than in Western populations. It is therefore advisable for individuals at high risk of heart disease to undergo their first CT coronary angiography at the age of 40 years, while those at average risk should consider it by 50 years. Current guidelines recommend repeating the scan every five years if the angiogram is normal, and earlier if narrowing of the arteries is detected, if symptoms appear, or if advised by a physician. Importantly, women too should undergo these tests, particularly after menopause since the protective effect of the hormone oestrogen on the heart is lost.”
The rise in cardiac screenings is also linked to the growing use of wearables and health-tracking apps, which allow individuals to monitor vital signs and consult doctors at the earliest signs of irregularities.
Mahajan Imaging & Labs is responding to this shift by designing AI-driven preventive cardiac screening packages for younger demographics and high-risk groups, making early detection more accessible and affordable. By addressing evolving health needs through integrated care solutions, the lab is enabling individuals and clinicians to take proactive steps toward heart health before complications arise.
