Erba Global MedTech University launches M.Tech and MBA curriculum in Visakhapatnam – Express Healthcare

Erba Global MedTech University, Visakhapatnam, officially launched its M.Tech and MBA curriculum with Dr Ajay Sood, Principal Scientific Advisor to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, releasing the programmes.

The ceremony was attended by Dr Jitendra Sharma, MD and CEO, Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ); Rajiv Nath, Forum Coordinator, AiMeD; and Suresh Vazirani, Founder Chairman, Erba Transasia Group, along with senior faculty of the University. The Academic Council also reviewed upcoming Master’s and PhD programmes, which are scheduled to begin in January 2026.

Speaking at the event, Suresh Vazirani said, “This initiative marks yet another first in India and globally, driven by an excellent faculty team with great aspirations and motivation. The next generation of professionals will be eager to graduate from this pioneering institution, contributing significantly to the MedTech ecosystem.”

The programmes are aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision. They are designed to reduce dependency on imports, support the “Make in India” and “Skill India” missions, and help position India as a global MedTech hub.

Located within AMTZ, the University offers students hands-on exposure with more than 150 device manufacturers, supported by global collaborations with the WHO Collaborating Centre and World Trade Centre (WTC) AMTZ. The curriculum includes AI-driven diagnostics, medical robotics, molecular diagnostics, and genomics, with international benchmarks aligned with US, EU, FDA, and WHO standards.

According to the University, the curriculum is designed to:

  • Equip students with scientific and technical knowledge in medical technology.
  • Bridge the gap between research, industry, and entrepreneurship.
  • Develop leaders to drive innovation in line with “Make in India” and “Skill India”.
  • Contribute to self-reliance in healthcare manufacturing and reduce import dependence.
  • Cover advanced areas including AI-driven diagnostics, robotics, molecular diagnostics, and genomics.
  • Cater to doctors, engineers, medical technologists, and students.

Transasia Bio-Medicals, founded in 1979 and headquartered in Mumbai, is India’s leading in-vitro diagnostics company. It manufactures and markets equipment and reagents in biochemistry, haematology, coagulation, ESR, immunology, urinalysis, critical care, diabetes management, and molecular diagnostics.

The company has an installed base of over 90,000 equipment across 50,000 laboratories in India. Its network includes more than 350 service engineers, 400 sales and marketing staff, 26 zonal offices, and 550 channel partners, reaching more than 5,000 Tier II–IV cities, towns, and villages, including the north-eastern regions, within 4–5 hours.

Transasia was the first Indian company to manufacture and export blood analysers and reagents in the 1990s. Its technologies from European subsidiaries in the Czech Republic are customised in India at five facilities in Baddi, Daman, Sikkim, Mumbai, and Visakhapatnam. More than 150 crore blood tests are conducted annually using Transasia equipment, benefitting more than 200 million people, with over 150 tests conducted every second on its products.
