Ansell to invest USD 60 Million in India surgical glove plant – Express Healthcare

The proposed facility will cater to demand in India, the US and Europe while expanding Ansell’s manufacturing and supply-chain operations in the country

Australia-based global safety solutions company Ansell Limited is investing approximately USD 60 million in India to establish a manufacturing facility for surgical gloves, expanding its manufacturing capabilities in the country and its operations in the Indian market.

The proposed facility is expected to cater to the demand for surgical gloves in India and international markets, while strengthening Ansell’s supply chain and manufacturing footprint.

The investment reflects the company’s confidence in India’s healthcare and medical devices ecosystem and the country’s role as a manufacturing destination. The new plant will add to Ansell’s existing operations in India and is expected to support the company’s efforts to serve customers across healthcare and other critical sectors.

India’s healthcare sector has witnessed increasing demand for medical consumables and protective products, driven by the expansion of healthcare infrastructure, rising awareness around infection prevention and the need for medical products. Ansell’s investment comes against this backdrop and is aligned with the growth of India’s medical manufacturing ecosystem.

“The investment is primarily to cater to the domestic market and to export to the US and Europe,” said Nathalie Ahlström, MD & CEO of Ansell.

The new manufacturing facility is also expected to create opportunities for employment and contribute to the development of the local industrial ecosystem through associated supply-chain and ancillary activities.

With this investment, Ansell continues to build on its presence in India while supporting the country’s ambitions to strengthen domestic manufacturing of critical healthcare and medical products.
